Literature Young Adult Fiction is a brand new book blog run by a sister duo team. Our goal is to help you navigate the murky waters of publishing in order to find those treasure chests filled with gold. We like YA books of all genres.
You will find reviews on books suitable for kids from 4th grade to 12th grade (American school system). Our review system marks what grades or ages publishers (and sometimes just us) think is appropriate.
Our grading system is based on personal enjoyment of a book. We range all over the place from 1 Treasure Chest to 5 Treasure Chests. Occasionally a Did Not Finish or DNF grade is handed out and that's because we at LYAF firmly believe that reading should be fun and when it no longer is, it's time to quit reading. We always try to explain our reasoning so you can decide whether or not you agree with us.
Why Pirates?
LYAF has a pirate theme because we are Yarrs! (Yarr = Young Adult Reader and Reviewer.) Anybody who likes YA books is a Yar but only those who are special become a Yarr.
About Us:
Captain Lyaf Yarr - was 11 when this blog started in September 2009. She enjoys fantasy and books involving school situations. Some of her favorite authors include J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Meg Cabot, and Suzanne Collins.
First Mate Keira - was 24 and freshly graduated from college when the idea of LYAF came to her. She enjoys fantasy, mystery, and romance the best. Some of her favorite YA authors growing up include J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), Carolyn Keene (Nancy Drew), K. A. Applegate (Animorphs), Donald J. Sobol (Encyclopedia Brown), and Ann M. Martin (Babysitters Club).

Second Mate Embry - Captain Lyaf Yarr's best friend from school. They share a similar taste in books, but Embry is far the more adventurous reader. She particularly enjoys book series.
Cook Cutlery- Is the middle sister in the Captain Lyaf Yarr and First Mate Keira team. She's not a regular reader and mostly confines her reading to school related reports and projects. She also likes to cook and play music.
Master Llama- One of Cook Cutlery's friends who loves to read and devours libraries one shelf at a time. Her nickname really is Llama.
Bookwatch- She keeps an eye out for Newberry Award winners. Her goal is to read all of them and while she's read a fairly huge chunk, she still has more to go.
