Too true. I also forgot #7 when they're at their school club meetings. When my son is at his Math Club/Student Council Meetings my daughter and I will grab something to eat, then read at the library until it's time to pick him back up.

I have a distraction and solutions to add. But it's for moms. Reading distraction: noisy school-aged children.

Solution #1: (Read at the same time your child does.) When they're reading for book logs, or for Accelerated Reader tests.

Solution #2: When your child is taking a bath, take advantage of the free time to read.

Solution #3: Ask they they give you 30 minutes to read and then you in turn will play a board game with them, help them study for a test, or other.
