I can't wait for Beastly to arrive in theaters. To satisfy my craving for Alex Pettyfer I've checked out some official movie stills and I totally glutted myself on the trailer and have watched it at least half a dozen times. My question now is...
Has anybody besides me notice Kyle Kingsbury's eyebrows?
They read: "Embrace Suck."
Unless of course the last letter is an 'X' or 'T' then it's "Embrace Sucx" or "Embrace Suct." If it is an 'X' or a 'T' then it doesn't really make any sense.
Now why on earth would he have words tattooed where his eyebrows would be? Every other beastly thing about him is scarring, red, silver ridges, or nature-like. It's all abstract and lyrical. Written words not so much. The script is beautiful but what's its point?
I wonder what the thought process was behind that decision in makeup and costume. He looks very punk and part of a gang. His beastly look is far more acceptable by today's standards than the truly hairy beast Alex Flinn originally penned. If the look wasn't so artistic it wouldn't be fantastical enough to keep the modern fairytale aspect going.
But back to the subject on hand--why do you think Kyle must "Embrace Suck?"
My guess is that he must embrace his sucky character and grow up. He must become Adrian and leave petty selfish Kyle behind. That would be on par with Alex Flinn's book.

Hey, I don’t think it says Embrace Suck. Those are actually Arabic letters. At the moment I’m trying to decode there Arabic… they didn’t do a good job of making it legible. In Arabic they read from right to left and the letters are usually attached, like in cursive, but these are detached.
Cool! When you figure it out let me know because it really looks like Embrace Suck to me in fancy calligraphy.
I’d be interested in learning what it really said.
I figured it out!! I read arabic, and i am also a designer, so i know that this is an english font that is made from arabic script (i hope this makes sense). If you try to ignore the arabic script and read the words from left-to-right as in english you’ll read the words “Embrace” and “Suck”. Ignore all dots and try to read each letter and you’ll eventually see it.

i noticed the eyebrows as well… i thought the letters seemed funny. i saw the accents above some of the letters and i really would like to know what they mean as well.
I’m still convinced it’s just pretty script with fancy accents and curlicues and that it reads Embrace Suck. lol
It’s just too convenient! Though if it really is Arabic… I wonder if it will be explained in the movie? That would be nice.

I think the first word on the right is la3any is in “cursed me” but I can’t read the other one.
I read arabic too…and I can’t make out a thing! And then I read it in english and its supposed to LOOK like arabic but its english letters lol I spent forever trying to figure it out in arabic then I saw this post and read how keira thought it says emrace suck and it totally does lol u can clearly read it if u look at it as english

When I saw it I thought arabic. But then I google pictures (and found this) and saw embrace and suck. I think it’s because he had said eMbrace the suck. And that’s what the witch lady told him.
If you watch the DVD extras there are early “beast” concepts have “embrace the suck” on his neck. Also the director talks about wanting his looks to include the things he said about “ugly” people. So my guess is that it’s just embrace suck written in a Arabic style font.
On the campaign posters at the beginning of the movie the “witch” character had written the words “Why embrace the suck” over his picture. I am sure it is a play on that phrase.
It is Arabic and it says “my eye” on the left eye and something about cursed on the right but its faded.
i feel like it does say embrace the suck (based on the movie). early in the movie kyle makes a comment about how people should just embrace the suck. he was being egotistical, and to teach him a lesson when the witch made him unattractive i guess she thought it’d be funny to make his eyebrows say “embrace suck”. he was talking about how some people are ugly and they might as well embrace the suck.
